Study Tips and Tricks

This blog post lists the main study tips and tricks to guide you through your Master program at SBE. As UM makes use of the PBL approach, this blog post focuses on how to tackle the main issues students face during tutorials. It also reviews a few helpful sites and apps to keep you motivated.
#1 Take notes before class
Make sure to write down some notes before each tutorial to review at the end of the period. Not only will this save you time when you are studying for the final exam or writing your final paper, but it also helps you memorize the key takeaways from your readings.
#2 Write down your questions before the tutorial
If you find yourself struggling when reading the required literature for your tutorial, it would be of use to write down your questions beforehand. This way, you can come to your tutorial prepared and also help your peers with your questions.
#3 Stay up to date with the readings
If you keep up with the required readings, you are more prepared and productive for each tutorial. When you start at SBE, it might be overwhelming how much you need to prepare for each class. However, if you make sure to keep up to date, it will be much easier to understand the literature.
#4 Create a WhatsApp group with peers
It is always great to have shared knowledge, and what better way to do that than to meet up with your peers. Make sure to create a WhatsApp group with your peers in the first tutorial so you can always reach out if you have any difficulties. You can also make smaller study groups afterwards to study for exams, review each other’s papers and motivate each other.
#5 Studydrive
Another great thing about shared knowledge is that you can find it anywhere online. Studydrive is the perfect place to start looking if you are in need of summaries, old exams or notes from tutorials. Also, if you start uploading your own documents, you can earn points that you can later use for discounts on great products. Sounds like a win-win situation, right?
#6 Forest app
Are you struggling to keep yourself motivated during your studies? Then consider downloading Forest! Forest allows you to build your own trees as long as you stay focused. You can set your own focus goals, study time and review how you did. This visual app can help you to stay focused, motivated and get stuff done.
