SBE Alumni — Meet Maxime!
November 2021 — by Merel Smit
Hi Maxime! Thank you for taking the time for this interview. Could you briefly introduce yourself?
I sure can! Hi everyone, my name is Maxime. I am 24 years old and originally from Belgium. I did my bachelor in Antwerp in International Entrepreneurship and finished my Master in International Business — Strategic Marketing last June. Currently I am doing a digital internship for L’Oréal Benelux in Amsterdam.
What made you decide to study at SBE?
I decided to study at SBE as I wanted to relocate to do my Master. I did my bachelor in International Entrepreneurship in Antwerp (Belgium) and decided it was time for a change of scenery for me. Next to this, I knew that SBE had the PBL-system which was something I was very interested in. I decided to enroll in the International Business — Strategic Marketing track as this was most interesting for me.
How did you enjoy your time at SBE, and what skills did you attain?
Apart from the fact that my master was mostly online because of COVID-19, I really enjoyed my time at the SBE in Maastricht. I liked the courses that were included in my Master, but most of all felt challenged to step out of my comfort zone, even in an online environment! Specific skills that I attained during my team at SBE would be: time-management, teamwork and presentation skills.
Do you have any study tips for prospective students?
Time management is everything! Make sure to have your agenda up-to-date and that you come to the tutorials prepared. In my experience, this was the way to not be overwhelmed with work at the end of the period.
What did you decide to do after you graduated from SBE?
Currently I am doing a Digital Internship at L’Oréal Benelux in Amsterdam. I decided I wanted to attain more skills on the digital front as I was intrigued by technology and software. I am really happy with this decision as I got the opportunity to work for a multinational in a fun, diverse and young team!
Lastly, could you please share your favorite spot in Maastricht with us?
I really enjoyed walking to St. Pieter and enjoying the nature around it. It was really nice to meet here with friends and take some wine along and play music. I now live in Amsterdam, but when I am around Maastricht I always come for the Ceasar Salad from Wycker Cabinet. Definitely worth a try! :)
Thank you Maxime for briefly taking us through your journey of being a student at SBE!
Best,
Merel
